Jalebi with dosa batter


Jalebi / Jilebi / Jilapi whatever we call this spiral, spiral ringed sweet, we Indians love eating them no matter its hot or cold. This is a very popular street food.



Ingredients :

— Dosa batter - 2cups
— Maida / All purpose Flour - 4tbsps
— Baking soda - 1/2tsp
— Sugar - 2cups
— Water - 1cup
— Elachi powder - 1/2 tsp
— Half lemon juice

Recipe :

1.  Dosa batter is made of 1cup urad dal, 3cups of idly rice, 1/4cup cooked rice and half cup poha / aatukulu.

2. To 2cups of dosa batter, add 4tbsps of Maida and 1/2tsp baking soda.

3. Mix without lumps. Let it rest for 15mins. 
4. Sugar Syrup : In a pan add 2cups of Sugar.
5. Add 1cup water and start preparing sugar syrup. 
6. You can add Orange food color. This is optional.
7. Boil it and bring it to 1 string consistency.
8. After reaching 1 string consistency add lemon juice and elachi powder. Mix and keep aside.
9. To make Jalebis, you can use any soft drink bottles.
10. Heat the cap and make a hole using match stick. 
11. You can either cut off the tip of the elongated or cut it off whole.

12. Fill batter in the bottle using funnel or spoon.
13. Heat oil and press the batter into the hot oil making Jalebi shapes.
14. Fry them till they are brown.
15. Drain the oil and soak in the sugar syrup for 5mins.

16. Remove and serve hot or cold.

Presenting a wonderful cake from the Dalgona family. This is a no Oven, no Butter and no Egg cake. Simple and easy to bake.
