Chole is one of the favorite punjabi dish, India loves eating. Palak / Spinach can be added to make it more interesting.
Ingredients :
— Chickpeas / Chole - 2cups
— Chopped onion - 1 cup
— Chopped tomatoes - 1/2cup
— Chopped Spinach / Palak - 1cup
— Cloves - 4-5
— Ginger garlic paste - 1tbsp
— Green chillies - 4-5
— Salt
— Oil - 2tbsps
— Ghee - 1tbps
— Chilli powder
— Garam masala
— Turmeric powder
— Chat masala / amchur powder
— Chopped corriander
— Cinnamon stick
— Bay leaf
— Tea decotion - 1cup
— Water - 2cups
— Corriander powder
Recipe :
1. Soak Chickpeas / Chole for 5-6 hrs / midnight.
2. In a pressure cooker, heat 1tbsp ghee and 2oil. Now add cloves, bay leaf and cinamon.
3. Add ginger garlic paste or chopped pieces and green chillies.
4. Now add chopped onions and fry till onions raw smell wades off.
5. When onions are fried add tomatoes and fry.
** Tomatoes and Palak is not a suggested combination, you can avoid or reduce the quantity.
6. Simultaneously prepare the tea decotion.
7. Add chopped Spinach / Palak and mix.
8. Cook with salt for 5mins.
9. Now add turmeric, chilli powder, garam masala, corriander powder, chat masala / amchur powder. Mix properly.
10. Now you can add soaked Chickpeas / Chole.
11. Add tea decotion and water.
12. Adjust spices and Pressure cook for 3-4 whistles.
13. Enjoy with Pooris or Rice.
