Jackfruit Sago Payash



Jack fruit is a tropical fruit with distinctive sweet flavor. There are various delicious dishes made out of this fruit. Jack fruit is quite healthy. It provides a moderate amount of calories in addition to lots of fiber, vitamins, minerals and antioxidants.

Presenting you a delicious payash loaded with goodness of milk, dry fruits, Sago and jack fruit.




Ingredients :
- Ripe Jack fruit pieces - 8
- Milk - 4 cups
- Soaked Sago balls / Tapioca pearls - 1/4 cup (Soak for at least 2 hrs)
- Jaggery - 1 cup
- Water - 1/2 cup
- Elachi powder - 1/2 tsp
- Chopped Dry fruits (Cashews, Almonds, Kishmish) - 1/3 cup
- Ghee - 3tbsps


Recipe :

1.Soak Tapioca pearls / Sago balls for at least 2 hrs.
2. Chop jack fruit into thin and long slices.
3. In a frying pan, add some ghee and fry all the dry fruits. Keep them aside.
4. Now add the jack fruit pieces and fry till they start turning soft. Don't let them burn.
5. Add water and let the jack fruit cook with closed lid. Once cooked add jaggery and cook till the jaggery melts.
6. Meanwhile in a thick bottomed pan boil 4 cups of milk. Keep stirring and also scrape the edges. Add soaked sago and let it cook.
7. The sago has to cook and will float as transparent balls over the milk. The milk will also thicken. Add some dry fruits and let it boil along. 
8. Now transfer the jack fruit pieces to the milk and mix. Let them all boil and cook together. If required add more boiled milk .
* Dont add raw milk at this stage.
9. Add some dry fruits and elachi powder and cook together. When the milk starts thickening, check for the sweetness and adjust.
10. Serve hot topped with nuts.
