Raddish / Mooli Leaves Curry

 


Raddish / Mooli / Mulangi is a wonderful veggie with medicinal properties.The leaves of this vegetable are completely edible and have a peppery taste by nature.

The leaves are used in different varieties and aids as a fiber supplement to lower the cholesterol levels and increase the calcium levels in the body.



Ingredients :

- Raddish / Mooli / Mullangi Leaves - 1 bunch

- Onions - 2 medium

- Green Chillies - 2-4

- Garlic Pods - 5

- Salt- as required

- Oil - 1 1/2 tbsps  

- Turmeric - 1/2 tsp                               

  For Peanut - Sesame Powder -

  - Sesame / Nuvvulu - 2 tsps

  - Peanuts - 2 tsps

 -  Dry Red Chillies - 5-6

For Tempering -                                                       

- Jeera - 1 tsp                                                              

- Mustard Seeds - 1/2 tsp                                          

- Channa Dal - 1 tsp                                                     

- Urad dal - 1 tsp

- Curry Leaves - 6-7


Recipe :

1. Dry roast sesame / nuvvulu , peanuts and dry red chillies and keep aside. When cooled, make powder in a blender. 

This is needed at the end of the curry preparation.


2. In a pan heat oil and add all the tempering ingredients. When nice aroma comes add crushed garlic and green chillies and fry till there is no raw smell.


3. Add Onions and fry till they become translucent. 


 4. Now add chopped raddish leaves, turmeric and salt. Mix well and close the lid. Cook this till leaves soften.

 

5. When the leaves are completely fried and little water is left , add the peanut - nuvvulu powder and fry for 5 mins. Adjust the spices if needed.


This curry can pair with hot rice topped with oil or rotis.
