Kharvas / Junnu is a special dessert made from the colostrum or the very first milk of cow / buffalo. It has great health benefits.
Ingredients:
Colustrum milk - 650 ml
Full cream milk - 1 ltr
Jaggery - 1 kg ( coarsely powdered)
Cardamom / Elaichi powder - 2 tbsp
Pepper powder - 2 tbsp (optional)
Recipe :
1. In a vessel mix together colustrum milk, full cream milk, elaichi powder and pepper powder.
3. Mix them well till jaggery melts.
4. Now transfer this into smaller tins or bowls of your desired size and steam them for 20-30 mins
Note: the bigger the vessel used cooking time increases
5. Once done, check with a skewer or spoon , insert into the vessel, if it comes out clean junnu is done.
6. Let it cool, can have it once cooled to room temperature.
