Tomato -Drumstick Rasam

Makes 10 servings


Ingredients


  • Tempering ingredients
  • Chopped onion - 1 no's, fried
  • Slit green chillies-4
  • Tomatos- 4  medium cubed, pureed
  • Tamarind- small lemon size , soaked
  • Drum stick - 1 big , cut into pieces 
  • Corriander chopped - 2 spoons
  • Curry Leaves- 1 strand
  • Garlic pods- 7/8 , mashed
  • Tumeric powder - 2 pinches
  • Methi powder - 1/4 spoon
  • Dhania powder - 2 spoons
  • MTR rasam powder - 2 spoons
  • Pepper pwd powder - 1/2 spoon
  • Salt to taste
  • Water - 4 glasses
  • Oil -2 spoons
  • Home made Ghee - 1 small spoon (optional)  Recipe: see here 
  • Toor Dal Spice powder - 2 spoons   Recipe: See here 





for Tempering:

  • Methi seeds - 6/7
  • Carrom seeds - 2 pinches
  • Urad dal - half spoon
  • Jeera - half spoon
  • Rai - half spoon
  • Redchillis -2
  • Hing - 1 pinch


Recipe 

  1. Fry chopped onions and keep aside
  2. Puree tomatoes along with soaked Tamarind and keep handy
  3. Half Boil drum sticks in a glass of water separately and keep handy
  4. Set a vessel , add oil , add tempering ingredients
  5. now add smashed garlic, slit green chillies, green coriander, curry leaves
  6. now add all spice powders except toor dal spice powder, let them fry a bit 
  7. Now add Tomato & tamarind puree, let fry a little , you will see the edges boiling and oil coming 
  8. Now add the drumsticks with boiled water and remaining water (save half glass water for later usage)
  9. Add salt as per taste
  10. Now let it boil for 5 mins in sim
  11. Add  half glass water to toordal powder , make sure no lumps are formed , should be flowy , add this to the Rasam and bring to boil
  12. Finally add a small spoon of home made ghee to boiling Rasam and its Ready to eat

Enjoy with Steaming Rice, Ghee and papad.. Even Idly goes great with this ....
